Program Overview
Hands-on training designed for newcomers to Canada, Beginner Sewists, and anyone who wants industry-standard sewing and tailoring skills. You will work on industrial machines, learn professional workflows, and build the confidence needed for alterations, production, repairs, or small-shop environments.
What trainees will learn
Week 1 — Machine Basics
- Single-needle industrial machine
- Sergers, blind hemmer
- Threading, tension, troubleshooting
- Safety and daily control drills
Week 2 — Alteration Workflows
- Hem types and basic finishing
- Simple repairs and pant adjustments
- Working with stretch and delicate fabrics
- Understanding timing and workflow
Week 3 — Real Work Practice
- Marking and pinning overview
- Pressing techniques
- Introduction to tailoring adjustments
- Quality expectations
Week 4 — Advanced & Final Assessment
- Fit fundamentals
- Garment shaping
- Portfolio-style practice
- Final practical evaluation and graduation
